Deborah, an Indian cyclist has created history by winning not one but five medals, which include a gold, at the Taiwan Cup Track International event. Deborah is the first Indian cyclist to achieve this commendable feat in the elite women section. She has also won three silver and one bronze, along with a gold medal, at the event.
The 20-year-old athlete achieved this victory by defeating a Malaysian top rider. Earlier, Deborah missed out a gold at the Keirin event and ended up in second position.
Deborah’s story is inspiring because she’s fought her way through a life-threatening tsunami that shook her birthplace Car Nicobar air base, also where her father used to work. Her family was displaced by the natural calamity and they had to rebuild their entire lives. For Deborah, cycling was just a way of life, but she turned this into a way of life, to win accolades and become one of the finest women cyclists of India.
Her recent victory at the Taiwan Cup is a result of her hard work, resilience and passion for the sport. We wish her luck for her future endeavours and hope she brings home many more medals.
