In a very grand ceremony, earlier in January 2015, Prime Minister Modi launched the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) campaign and called for the eradication of female foeticide.
Bollywood actress Madhuri Dixit was roped in as the brand ambassador for this project, which is clearly aimed to save and empower the girl child.
Months later, to make this initiative a reality, in terms of deeds and action, and not just mere words, the Ministry of Women and Child Development has released a video to promote awareness about the girl child. The video, which features Bollywood celebrities like Madhuri Dixit, Sushmita Sen, Kareena Kapoor and others, focuses on the need to send girls to schools, to give wings to their dreams, to let them create their own identity.
Every girl wants to become a somebody and that can happen only if she is given her right to be educated.
