One would think that our workplace would lose its charm after it becomes a part of the humdrum of our daily existence. But this is not the case with ticket examiner in Nagpur division of Indian Railways with an artistic eye, Bijaya Biswal who turned to his workplace on wheels into inspiration and captured it in a series of stunning water colour paintings.

Shared by the Salem Division of Southern Railways on their Facebook page, his artwork quickly went viral. Greeted with sighs of appreciation, some people even suggested that he was in the wrong profession and that he should be running his own art gallery instead! Biswal, though, has a different take and shares, “But I have no plans of leaving work to pursue art. I am already pursuing it. My job allows me to travel and observe the platforms, the trains, the people around them, and so many other things which I try to capture in my artwork.”

Employed with the railways for the past 25 years, Biswal’s paintings have only started getting recognition now. “I have been painting with charcoal, pens, water colours etc since the very young age of five or six,” he says and added, “The paintings on Indian Railways aren’t new either. But it’s only now that they have started to get popular and people are discovering them, so there is praise.”

Take a look at these stunning paintings and tell us what you think.
