Breast cancer is a health condition that many women across the world have suffered from and those who survived have only lived to tell the tale, in a way that can motivate others to be more accepting of it. We often assume that a healthy lifestyle can keep ailments at bay. Yes, it can but we are not really in control of our life, in the larger context. It’s not easy for us to accept something of this enormity, with ease and therefore many of us live in denial- ‘This won’t happen to me’. We don’t keep up with our regular medical check up.
When Sara Cutting from Brighton was diagnosed with triple negative breast cancer, she had to undergo a mastectomy to get rid of her tumor. She had to go through an extensive chemotherapy, which lasted for 18 weeks.
Due to the intensity of the chemo, Sara lost all her hair. But she took in her stride and decided to spread awareness about breast cancer. Sara started the ‘365 Day Different Daily Headgear’ challenge, where she wore different hats and headgear. She posted the pictures on Instagram, urging women to get their check up done and also donate money for Macmillan Cancer Support, the clinic which supported her through her illness.
She wanted the world to know that even if you have lost your hair, you can still be happy and positive in life. Her colourful headgears prove the same.
