Parents often wonder about the kind of role models they would like to set for their little girls, especially when they give them dolls, which are painted with have heavy make up and skimpy clothes. But one artist is changing this by making the dolls looks like inspiring women. Think Malala Yousafzai, J.K. Rowling, Jane Goodall and Waris Dirie.
Vancouver-based artist Wendy Tsao has been doing some commendable work, as she takes off make up from Bratz dolls to turn them into replicas of extraordinary women who are true inspiration to real women.
Wendy, who owns the company Child’s Own Studio, was also the one to start the trend of creating soft toys from illustrations. This year while Wendy was looking forward to doing some new work, when she came across the Tree House Dolls, a collection of dolls that were redone by artist Sonja Singh. This inspired her and that’s how she got the idea to recreate the look of dolls for her project the Mighty Dolls.
Wendy’s aim is to provide a worthy role model for kids to look up to, who can appreciate and aspire to be like these real women, who are making a difference to society.
