An 18-year-old model, Madeline Stuart, is challenging beauty stereotypes by doing something unimaginable. The courageous girl has embraced her flaws and shown us what inner beauty means. Maddy, as she is fondly called, has bagged two fashion campaigns.
Why is this special? This model and Australian native has Down’s Syndrome, a congenial disorder which occurs due to a chromosome defect. It causes intellectual impairment and physical abnormalities. But these shortcomings haven’t stopped the teen model from showing off her real beauty and inspiring many other women around the globe.
Maddy’s move into modeling comes as a great inspiration especially because the beauty industry has stereotypes that society believes to be true beauty.
Maddy’s fashion campaigns include one from an athletic wear company called Manifesta and the other with Gautemalan handbag brand, EverMaya.
Though Madeline isn’t the first individual with special needs to take a prominent position in the fashion industry (Jamie Brewer, actress of American Horror Story was the first model with Down’s Syndrome who walked the runway) she sure is raising hopes of other people who aspire to take up such roles in society, despite their physical deformities.
Take a look at some of her work.
