Dear Mr. Markandey Katju,
Hope you are doing fine.
You know I went to psychologist today to get myself checked. I insisted that there must be something wrong with me. After a lot of tests and brain scans he handed me a clean chit. I was baffled and shocked because I didn’t have any psychological disorders and was functioning just fine. Did I mention I am a single girl and have been unattached for a while?
Your recent Facebook post mentions that we women who stay single develop psychological problems. I wonder how am I unscathed? Can you please enlighten me?
You went ahead and said that a woman, who helps the species produce further has to get hold of a man who can make her pregnant and look after her and provide for her financially. Let’s see, I am single, don’t really want a man, pretty much financially settled and really don’t want someone to provide for me and look after me. Well there must be something really wrong with me, because according to you I am going against nature, right?
You further add in your Facebook post that “it is not men who pursue women, but women who pursue men. It is the Life Force which drives women to pursue and catch a mate, who will then look after her while she is performing nature’s serious and vital function of continuing the species”. Wow! Mr. Katju I a m having serious thoughts now because I don’t see myself pursuing anyone, rather the other way round. I also know a whole lot of other women who are so much like me, who don’t fit into your description of a woman who is dying to get married and produce babies.
We are not dependent on any man to provide for us. Rather many of us are providing for our men. Should those men be shot because they decided to live off the woman and hence go against the nature?
Why am I suddenly starting to feel that it is you who needs to visit a psychologist soon? You are quoting Shaw and interpreting him in way that makes the whole womankind hate you and him at the same time. You were a judge at the Supreme Court once upon a time. Did you make all your judgments keeping in mind that the woman is only made to trap the man and reproduce with him to keep the species going?
As a former chairman of the Press Council of India, don’t you think it is your responsibility to think before you write? Be it a tweet, be it a Facebook update or an article, is the right of freedom of speech made us so crass that people like you who have a social standing in the society can write anything?
You did nothing but degrade womankind. I sincerely hope you find a psychologist soon, because according to me, men who make such statements have already developed mental problems.
