We all, some way or the other, were affected by Princess Diana’s death. She was the ultimate princess, everything classy and royal and we all wanted to be a part of her life and live the royal dream with her. Her untimely death is something that we just couldn’t, and still can’t, get over. And it’s not just us.

When Prince Harry got emotional and spoke about the tragic death of his mother at the opening of Momohato Children’s Centre in Africa, earlier this week, everyone understood his pain.

He described the profound effect his mother’s death had on him and how that experience had been able to help him relate to the orphans, whom he wants to help. “I knew there would always be a gaping hole that could never be filled. The children at the center were far younger than me, and of course, their situation was a great deal more challenging than my own.
Nonetheless, we shared a similar feeling of loss, having a loved one-in my case a parent-snatched away so suddenly,” said the 31-year-old prince.

He has earlier spoken about how his mother’s work inspired him to work for the less privileged. “It’s equally important, if not more so, to do the stuff behind the scenes. It’s something that our mother did a lot. And that’s the time you really get to learn. You get the experiences and you actually get the honest truth out of people.”

Prince Harry has honoured his mom’s memory by naming the building in the orphanage after her.
