It’s only in India that you would see a customer taking to Twitter to put forth his request for a Hindu driver. For a society who believes too much in caste – from the letter your name begins with to the way you are cremated – the man probably though that his request was quite commonplace. However he picked the wrong contender.
This man tweeted to Ola Cabs asking them to allow customers to choose their own driver. Being a Hindu himself, he was more comfortable with a Hindu driver.
Ola Cab went ahead and replied to him, telling him point-blank that they did not believe in discrimination of any sort
@SVeerapaNaidu Sorry, we do not discriminate against our drivers on the basis of their religion.

We certainly applaud Ola’s simple but spot-on response. We are sure that there are many people who would in fact like to choose their drivers. Coming from a background where every religion except your own is filthy and wrong, you’d want to only be with your own people, right? Ola’s response, however simple, just pointed to a new cross-section in the society who certainly doesn’t care. The fact that this has gone viral with people tweeting their support for Ola, just adds to our happiness. Cheers to a better world.
However that’s not the only thing making us happy. Look at how Twitter is winning this Ola > Stupid Customer war.

Yeah ‘Halal’ can be & should be Demanded for ‘secularism’ to prevail, but choosing a car driver is racist! Ola cabs

Just like Ola Cabs, no company should discriminate based on religion. We deserve holidays for Diwali, Eid, Christmas, & everything else too.

We are lynching someone for asking for a hindu driver from ola cabs but don’t outrage when Shadi dot com offers you the same choices.

Ola Cabs said free ride to Bengaluru Comic Con but they denied to pick me up in Hyderabad.

The executive who tweeted from Ola Cabs’ account will be enjoying the huge appraisal this season. Well done, boy!
