While some eagerly await these 10 auspicious days of Ganesh Chaturthi, a great many people find it to be an absolute nightmare, especially if they’re in Mumbai. A city that’s always on-the-go suddenly slows down and gives in to the loud noise, traffic and chaos that comes like a package during the visarjan days. Many find that the best way to block out the chaos is to leave the city and go on a long holiday. But if that’s a not choice, don’t worry, we give you the perfect solutions to escape it.

Movie marathon at a theatre: Do you stay too close to the shore or a road that leads to the shores? Then surely you’re dreading the fifth and tenth day of Ganesh Chaturthi. But fret not, there’s a simple solution to it all. Watch back-to-back movies at a theatre. Chill at the nearest multiplex to avoid the heat and noise. The overload of popcorn is an added benefit to look forward too.

Chill at an area close to a pandal that has been recently vacated: It is simple logic, ‘Ganpati has just left the building’; no one’s going to come nearby and there sure won’t be any loudspeakers around.

Go on a shopping spree: Not many will take the chance to head to the mall on a busy visarjan day, but it’s actually a good idea to do so. Being inside the mall you’ll be shielded from the noise. Plus it won’t be crowded as usual, so you can go on with your shopping in peace, without having to stand in long lines outside the trial rooms and serpentine payment queues.

Hit the bar: Go catch up with your friends at the bar on a visarjan evening. With good music and great company (and ample of alcohol), you won’t even remember about the chaos outside.

Make a few extra bucks on overtime duty: Leaving from work post 6 on one of the visarjan days is going to be a tough trek home anyway. You might as well check-in for overtime duty, make a few bucks and leave late when the roads begin to clear up.

Throw your own party: It’s going to be noisy outside, you might as well add to it with better music. This way you can enjoy the evening with your friends and may be for the first time your neighbour won’t be able to complain about it.

Use up your frequent flyer miles: If you’re the kind who wouldn’t stop at anything to get away from the chaos, we have a great idea for you. Gather your frequent flyer miles and book a return ticket to a city of your choice. Between flying and chilling at the airport lounges, you can easily kill quite a few hours. Plus airports are away from the noise, you’ll be away from the nuisance. FYI, this also makes for a really cute date idea, if you have someone special you’d like to fly with.
