Lady Gaga is usually known for her daring stunts in her music videos. But this time around, she has surprised us. Her latest song Til It Happens to You is a stark contrast to her previous videos. It will make you sit up and take note.
The focus of this music video is on sexual abuse in college. We typically tend to dismiss these issues till we experience it. This video shows three different stories and how sexual abuse breaks women down in different yet similar ways, making them feel worthless.
And even though sexual harassment on college campuses is a reality, it is not talked about and usually passed off as one of those things that happen with other people. But this song and its lyrics combined with this powerful video deals with this issue, with the kind of seriousness it deserves.
The song, written by Diane Warren, complements this impactful video and leaves us with something to contemplate on. We hope it raises the awareness level among people, about sexual harassment.
The video was first created for The Hunting Ground, a documentary on campus sexual violence, which was released in February and Lady Gaga went ahead and showed support and solidarity to the cause. In fact, she recently tweeted about it too.
