Indian gymnast Dipa Karmakar made India proud yesterday when she won the women’s vault bronze medal at the Asian Championships help in Hiroshima. Chinese Yan Wang defended her title and won the gold and was followed by Sae Miyakawa from Japan. Dipa, who had also won a bronze in the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, finished third and thus, won the bronze medal.
A native of Agartala, Dipa is only 21 years old and will turn 22 on August 9. The Sports Authority of India took to Twitter to congratulate Dipa and tweeted.

Earlier this year in February she excelled in the 35th National Games in Kerala and won a total of five gold medals for Tripura. In the 2014 Asian Games, she also finished fourth.
