We all pretty much on auto pilot when it comes to singing Christmas carols thanks to years of celebrating Christmas (or studying in convent schools). However, if you sit back and think about it, some of the carols have quite outdated ideas. They were written in the 40s so we totally get why they lack that modern touch, but who said we can’t give them a makeover? And California-based illustrator, Gemma Correll has done just that.
“Can we make #FeministXMasSongs a thing?” she tweeted two days ago. That was all Twitter needed. She started out with an example of some feminist lyrics and Twitter took care of the rest. Check out the newest hashtag here and tell us if you have a few lyrics of your own to add to this.
