The gender equality movement is definitely getting its due attention but there are still some shocking stories that would make you feel sick to your stomach and ashamed of humanity. Like this one of an Asian father who went with his family for a picnic to a beach in Dubai, and let his daughter drown. Apparently, the father did not want any strange rescuer to touch her while saving her from drowning, so he let her die!
The 20-year-old along with her sibling was swimming when she suddenly started screaming for help. The two men at the beach ran to her rescue but the father became the obstacle, stopping them from going towards his daughter. According to Lt. Col Burqibah who was present, the father became aggressive with the men and did not allow them to save the girl. He believed that if any strange men touched his daughter, it would dishonour her. So he allowed her to die instead.
The father has been arrested for not letting the rescuers save his daughter.
This incident highlights the fact that the orthodox mindset still exists and chooses honour over human life. But will it ever change?
