Bihar which is considered as one of the most notorious states of the country has done something that has completely blown us away. The Bihar government has now started providing free sanitary napkins to adolescent girls in schools. Education minister Ashok Choudhary said that every girl will be given Rs150 to buy sanitary napkins for herself. Though we feel that they should be given the sanitary napkins instead of the money, because the money can be used for other things as well, this is still a start.
In the past, the education minister has also provided cycles, uniforms, and books to students in government schools. He also plans to enable WiFi in colleges and universities, and plans to hold English-speaking classes for people of the state. We applaud him for his efforts.
