What’s better than beginning Diwali week with some awesome news. According to Fortune India, State Bank of India’s Chairperson Arundhati Bhattacharya remains the most powerful woman in the Indian business sector.
Last year too Arundhati was at the top position followed by ICICI Bank’s Chanda Kochhar at the second and Shikha Sharma of Axis Bank at the third position. The top five have retained their position this year; the list also includes HPCL chairperson and managing director (MD) Nishi Vasudeva on the fourth position, and AZB & Partners Co-Founder Zia Mody and Aruna Jayanthi Chief Executive of Capgemini India shared the fifth rank.
However, this year only two new women made it to the list. MD & CEO of Portea, Meena Ganesh and MD & CEO of Eros International Group, Jyoti Deshpande have made their debuts at the 43rd and 50th positions, respectively.
The list includes women from various sectors – all of who are in the top 50. Designers Ritu Kumar and Anita Dongre have also made it to the list, along with Joint MD Balaji Telefilms, Ekta Kapoor.
