Paternity leave seems like the newest perk in the corporate world. And most companies out there are fighting it out, as to who is doing it better. Following in the footsteps of Google, Netflix and Microsoft, Amazon has started offering its employees paternity leave as well.
It all started with Google offering 12 weeks of paid paternity leave and then Netflix upped it by offering unlimited paid paternity leave to fathers on the birth of their first child. Then came Microsoft, which offered 12 weeks of paid paternity leave followed by Adobe offering 16 weeks.
Following suit, Amazon has declared that men will get a paid leave of six weeks, while women will get 20 weeks of maternity leave. We so hope India starts giving paternity leave too.
Surprisingly US is the only developed company in the world, which doesn’t guarantee paid paternity leave. The UK guarantees 39 weeks of paid leave, while Australia and Mexico each give 18 weeks and 12 weeks of paid leave, respectively.
