A Touching Reminder from the Future on Why We Need to Stop, Breathe and #LetGo

Let’s go back to Monday morning. You wake up wishing you had a few more minutes of sleep. You get ready and begin your journey to work wishing for a weekend that wouldn’t end so quickly. Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday just feel like a lifetime. At this point, you’re tired, exhausted and waiting impatiently for Friday night, the only time in the week where you seem to be at peace. But Friday nights are always the shortest right, between feeling calm and hoping for a good weekend, your eyes seem to be taking you on a different journey altogether. Soon you’re asleep and when you wake up, it’s Saturday already!

The good thing about Saturday is that you know you have a few hours you can spend on rest or play, the bad part about it is that it’s never enough. Before you know it, Sunday comes by, bringing with it a ticking clock that reminds you how close Monday is. And that’s life as you know it.

Earlier this year, Sanctuary Spa asked a few women about their lifestyle and almost 75 per cent of women say they put too much pressure on themselves to be perfect. From the same lot almost half said they felt moderately or extremely stressed, and a whopping 40 per cent said they’re about to burn out.

As shocking as these results are, do we really need a survey to reveal what most of us know is true. Look at the way we spend each week. Between trying to be perfect and successful, we just seems to be stuck in a rut. It’s always about running around, striving to be better, meeting deadlines, looking prettier, a continuous cycle of just ‘doing,’ instead of ‘being.’ And before you know it, time has run out. You grow old and then look back and wish you could have done things differently.

Although we’re so busy and goal-oriented, somewhere deep down we fear this may be true. Maybe that’s why this video about a bunch of elderly women leaving you with such strong emotional advice touches a nerve. So before it’s too late, hear them out and ponder over the life you live.
