Wet shoes, messy hair, a rain-soaked phone and running late for a meeting. Is this you in the rains? Welcome to the word of monsoon mess. Don’t press the panic button when it begins to pour outside, just learn these nine tricks to keep you going when it rains.
1. Drying your shoes: Your shoes are bound to get wet when it’s raining. And if you’ve to attend an important event or meeting, you can’t really get there with wet, squeaky shoes. Carry enough paper towels and tissues or keep some sheets of newspapers. Stuff them in your shoes and let them soak up all the water. Voila! You now have dry shoes!
2. Smoothen frizzy hair: Weather change has a direct impact on hair especially in the rains when it can get static. To win the war against static hair, use some hair cream on your locks and let them smoothen up.

3. Use plastic bags: Plastic bags especially the types that have a zip lock are useful in the rains as water does not seep in. Put all your valuables, such as cell phone, laptop and other electronics in a plastic zip lock bag. You’ll be surprised to know that touch screens work through the plastic too.
4. Rice trick for a wet phone: If any of your gadgets get wet, turn them off immediately and dry them with a towel. Then take a large bowl full of raw rice and leave the gadget in it for 34 to 48 hours. The rice will soak up all the moisture and restore your phone.
5. Make shoes waterproof: Use beeswax to make all your shoes waterproof. All you need to do is rub beeswax generously all over your shoe. Then blow dry it so that it melts and leave it that way for 30-45 minutes. This is a great to keep your expensive shoes safe-to-wear in the rains.

6. Rain marks: Got a white top stained with rain water? Well, here’s how to get the stains off. Put a white towel on the ironing board and place your top on it with the stain facing downwards. Then sponge it with a damp cloth and iron. Move your top to a dry part of the towel and repeat again until the stain has vanished. The towel absorbs the stain.
7. Store leather: Leather goods get affected the most due to moisture. Keep your leather shoes, bags and jackets in a well-ventilated place so that they don’t stink. Shoes should be dried completely before putting them in the shoe cabinet. Prevent leather items from bending and try to keep them in cloth bags to avoid moisture.
8. Fungus-free shoes: To keep your shoes free of fungus (especially leather), take an old toothbrush and soap solution and scrub the fungus lightly. After brushing, keep the shoes under the fan so that they dry well. You can also keep them under sunlight, whenever available.
9. Keep furniture moisture free: To keep your fancy wooden furniture free of moisture and stickiness, oil them with wax to prevent them from absorbing moisture.
