5 Ways to Make Time for Your Hobby

Never allow yourself to not enjoy your hobby.

Once in a while, I love to bring home potted plants, prune them and watch them bloom in my sunny balcony. Trust me, it acts like therapy and makes we wish I could squeeze in more time to nurture them. Are you also one of those who have a passion for activities that help you just unwind and be? Hobbies offer that much-needed break while we are all busy running the same rat race.

Having a hobby also means giving it some dedicated time, the same way you would your house plants! So, you must find those few extra hours to pursue your hobby. If you are bogged down by work and family responsibilities, then here’s how you can go about it.

Find a niche
: Love knitting but cannot let go off gardening? It’s not just about making choices, but also finding a niche. Spend a little time while pursuing both your hobbies to find out where your expertise lies or simply which hobby makes you happier. Be it hobby A or B, it is crucial to identify your core interest to make time for it.

Fix a time: Schedule a day or more specifically a time slot to pursue your hobby. Set aside a time and tell yourself that you will only use it to do what you enjoy doing the most. If you stick by this for a couple of weeks, you will realise that it isn’t that difficult.

Prioritise your interests: If you are like me (busy about household chores like the laundry, veggie shopping etc), then it’s time to prioritise your interests. Allot a specific day in the week to finish them so that when the weekend arrives, you have plenty of time for your hobby.

Hire help: No, we are not asking you to stop doing your daily chores and let your home go to the dogs. All we want you to do is hire domestic help so that you can cut down your daily task list. By simply doing so, you will realise that you have managed to spare a few extra hours to paint the gardening pots or bake those red velvet cupcakes you have been planning to for a long time.

Make your hobby fun: Finally, never allow yourself to not enjoy your hobby. Sometimes it may be an expensive affair or even time-consuming. But once you start enjoying it, you will not find it a chore. A hobby should be more like a fun activity and a fulfilling experience that you can wrap yourself in from time to time.
