An effective way to make an impression in this tough market is to create a video resume.
Let’s admit that looking for an interesting career option is getting difficult with each passing day. And let’s not get into how competition is getting tougher. But, then there are several ways to crack that dream job. We are obviously talking about a CV or resume which can be a deal breaker when it comes to impressing your employer. Since nobody really has too much time in their hands to go through a lengthy/ descriptive resume, we are thinking of making it stand out with some twist.
An effective way to make an impression in this tough market is to create a video resume, which demonstrates your skills and reflects your personality. Although it’s a fairly new concept in India, a lot of companies are welcoming the change. Here are some points that will help you in creating an impressive video resume.
Dress Smart: The first thing the employers will notice about your video resume is your personality. And by that it means how you are dressed. So keep in mind the organisation you are applying for a job, and the kind of dress code they follow. Make sure to dress smart.
Pronunciation: Employers are always looking for smart employees who can converse with clients and co-workers. At times on camera, people tend to get nervous and make mistakes. That said, make sure you pause between sentences and use the correct pronunciations.
Talk about your strengths: Make sure you point out your strengths without sounding like a narcissist, and explain clearly why they should hire you. In short, make your strengths interesting to ace the interview.
Keep it short: If the length of the video is too long, then the employers watching it, will automatically lose interest. Keep it short and to the point.
Review it: After you have created the video resume, make sure to go through it for mistakes. Editing the video to perfection is what will make it different from the rest. Ask your friends and family to review it too. A fresh eye will always add value to the resume.
