Be it your high school sweetheart, your work buddy, or the connection you made on a dating app, figuring out how to pop the big question is not always easy.
We spoke to Bumble couple, Aradhana and Vinay Matwani, who found each other on the dating app. After dating for a year-and-a-half, Vinay carefully planned to pop the question and Aradhana got her dream proposal. “When our families were supposed to meet each other for the first time over dinner, he planned a surprise proposal for me! Everyone knew about it except me,” adds Aradhana.
While planning a proposal can be a daunting task, we’re here to give you the best reccos to make it a forever one.
1. Make it personal
Observe what your partner likes and incorporate those elements into the proposal. It’s fun when you tailor the proposal to your partner. Personalisation not only brings in an element of surprise, but also reflects the effort and dedication given to the proposal.

2. The proposal is about the couple
Make the proposal about the two of you and not just one person. Add things to the proposal that both of you enjoy. “Since both of us are big Game of Thrones fans, while proposing to me, Vinay added a reference to GOT which made it extra special,” said Aradhana.

3. If you are close to your families, involve them as well
Having your family present during this special moment of your life can mean a lot. Since marriage is a union of two families as well as the couple, involving them in whichever capacity that you like is always a big ‘yes’.

4. Make sure someone is capturing the special moment on camera
This goes without saying. This is the only way to cherish the proposal forever and pass it on to your kids one day!

5. You can make a trip out of it
If you both love to travel and want the memory to be a private one, you can take your partner on a weekend getaway to a beautiful location. What’s great is that if you tell the hotel management in advance about your proposal plan, they will help with making your vision a reality!

Last but not the least, don’t get too caught up in executing everything perfectly. While planning the perfect proposal can be frightening, don’t lose sight of the big picture. You’ve found your everlasting love and that’s what you need to celebrate, so enjoy it!
