Imagine this: on a regular weekday, you’re simply scrolling through Instagram to kill boredom and that’s when you find LOVE. Ta-da, isn’t it fantastic? Here is this intercaste and intercultural couple’s inspiring love story, in case you don’t believe us!
Let’s take a look at how Tanvi & Rohan, well-known interior decorators, part-time content creators and full-time lovers, tied the knot in 2023 after dating each other for two years in Pune. It’s true, ‘Inter-caste marriage is the biggest weapon to end division in society.’
About finding love on Instagram
Tanvi, a Bihari-Mangalorean girl from Pune, was 21 years old when she first conversed on Instagram with Rohan, a Maharashtrian boy from Pune. To their surprise, they felt an instant connection with each other while chatting on Instagram in 2020, right before Covid brought hopelessness to the world. However, Tanvi’s ambivert nature grew on Rohan’s extroverted personality. Considering that they were very focused on their career and were not pursuing love, they fell for each other within a short span of time.
On convincing their parents
Inter-caste marriages can indeed bring various cultural elements together, making the wedding planning process more intricate but also richer in diversity. Tanvi & Rohan belong to different castes and cultures, but fortunately the families come from strategic business midsets hailing from the same city, Pune. Hence, the parents were very comfortable conversing with each other during family meetings and gatherings while planning to tie the knot.
The couple revealed, “As different cultures came together, planning the wedding was tougher than convincing them about our inter-caste wedding.” Hence, our families’ wedding rituals and traditions differed. We ultimately had a cooperative three-day wedding, and it is encouraging that both families were willing to accept one another’s peculiarities and cooperate to make the occasion unique for us.
Tanvi And Rohan on taking it to the next level
After their first meeting, Rohan knew in his heart that Tanvi is his potential wife because he knew that she desired for a life-long commitment. Rohan added, “It took me two months to express my feelings to Tanvi and know what she felt for me, which led to my dream to date her.”
As per Tanvi’s ambivert nature, she took a while to get emotionally attached to Rohan. After the proposal, she spent around six months deciding if she really wanted to spend the rest of her life with Rohan. During their courtship, she discovered all of the green flags she was looking for in a husband aka Rohan, which helped her gauge her next step.

It’s encouraging to learn that Tanvi and Rohan’s marriage produced a close-knit, cohesive family in addition to a lovely wedding. “There’s no doubt that the constant efforts to get together, organise trips, and participate in different activities have contributed significantly to the strengthening of the ties between the two families,” Tanvi retorted. Trips, both inside and outside of India, offered us exceptional chances to strengthen our links to one another and make enduring memories. We are celebrating our marriage and fostering the development of a family as a whole by carrying on with these activities.
Challenges faced in the relationship
Among the challenges Rohan faced when committing to Tanvi were his flings and not-so-serious relationships. This was undoubtedly a turning point in a marriage that had been difficult to maintain for a few months. It took Tanvi some time to turn that red flag into a green one because Rohan had many female friends. However, once she got to know Rohan and understood his personality, behaviour, and perspective towards life and goals, they were able to overcome all the obstacles.
Tanvi & Rohan’s simple advice on inter-caste marriage
Tanvi and Rohan shared, “We are honestly interacting with an extensive number of people from various castes and cultures in India in the hopes of bringing about some change. This makes it easier to know them personally and promotes intercaste marriages. Understanding your partner means knowing what you can do together in terms of business, work, and travel. Making logical, rational choices will improve being with your partner more than considering the cultural and religious beliefs of his family. The single piece of advice is that getting married for love is a pretty simple process; however, how you play the game will determine how things work out in an arranged marriage.”
