On being asked if Shawl has gifted her a diamond ring that is close to her heart, she said, “I do not allow friends to gift me diamonds. That does not happen. I buy them, I like gifting them.”
Recounting the first diamond she bought which was “a ten-cent diamond with a pure gold adjustable band that had an open-ended thing,” Sen told Zoom TV, “After that, I graduated slowly to 22 carats.”

Elaborating on why women should buy their own diamonds, Sen reiterates, “This I hold to this day. Size matters so that you can let the man know and see that either you match the size of my diamond or the size of my heart. My heart is going to be tough so work on the diamond please and make it bigger than this. It’s important to set benchmarks for yourself.”
A symbol of self-empowerment

Previously, when Sen was spotted wearing a diamond ring, rumours of her alleged engagement with Shawl started doing the rounds. Later, the actress who’s always been the flagbearer of women empowerment rubbished the rumours: “This ring is to remind me and all of you that I don’t need a man in my life to have diamonds. I can own them myself.”
We are conditioned to believe that if a woman is wearing a diamond ring, it must be a gift from her man. What we fail to realize is that a woman is equally capable of buying her own diamonds and that this can be a symbol of self-empowerment.
On her romance with a younger beau

Talking about her bond with Shawl—the duo has been inseparable since 2018—the former Miss Universe told Zoom TV, “I didn’t know that he would turn out to be a very evolved person for someone 15 years younger. Shallows don’t work for me, it has to have depth. It has been beautiful. Me, him, my kids, we make a team. I am not one of those romantics who believe I need a man to complete me and I need this and that. I never felt like that in my life. Thank God for it because I believe only two-piece can make romance. Half and half don’t make a romance.”
