There is no ideal recipe for a great friendship. No one can say for certain, that if you do ‘this,’ it’s bound to last, or if you do ‘that,’ she’ll stick around forever. However, there’s one thing for sure – best friends who are absolutely poles apart, personality wise, often share a more fun relationship. Remember ‘Rani’ (Played by Kangana Ranaut) and ‘Vijaylakshmi’ (Played by Lisa Haydon) from Queen? The reason they had such an electrifying rapport, is because the two women were from completely different worlds, and had nothing but a chance meeting with each other in common.
“Opposites attract,” is a term that’s commonly used when people refer to romantic connections, however, today, we’re telling you why and how those who have besties that are nothing like them, are probably lapping up life, a tad bit more than you are…
1. Different perspectives
If your closest pal isn’t similar to you, the chances of her having different viewpoints and opinions are quite high. However, this doesn’t necessarily count as a reason for conflict – in fact, it opens your mind to a whole other perspective, that is always a healthy thing.
2. Learning from each other
Since she comes from the other side of the world, she will introduce you to stuff that you are not very familiar with… be it a new restaurant, an interesting hobby, or even a genre of cinema that you never thought you could enjoy before. If there are cultural differences, then that too, you can learn from. Of course, all this also applies vice versa. When she’s very different from you, there’s always going to be some learning!
3. Pushes you out of your comfort zone
Again, as we all saw in Queen, Vijaylaxmi pushed Rani to do things she’s never done before, and enabled her to have brand new experiences… which actually led her to self-discovery!
4. No boy trouble
If y’all are poles apart, there ain’t no chance in hell, that the two of you will fall for the same guy, and have to worry about who is going to make the big sacrifice. If she likes the science nerds, you probably like the artsy kind – sorted!
5. Balance
If one is a little more, or less of something than the other – it always helps. You are assertive; she’s on the passive side. You are pushy; she goes with the flow. You are high-strung; she rolls with the punches… those are the kind of friendships that go down in history!
