Scrolling through our phone mindlessly for no good reason has become a regular thing in our lives now. Bored or not, your phone is always there to your rescue irrespective of the need. Keeping yourself updated on social media with all that’s going on around the world hinders communication, especially when you and your partner are having a conversation.

It’s become a common sight everywhere. Whenever you spot a couple sitting in a restaurant, cafe, or even at home, you will always find them busy on their respective phones. RIP to when we didn’t have the internet, when people actually talked to each other and gave relationships more priority than anything else. Unfortunately, you fail to realise how it hampers your relation and more importantly, YOU! Here are a few things that you have to consider if you are someone who’s constantly on the phone every time their partner tries to converse.

1. Instagram, Facebook and WhatsApp can wait

What will happen if you don’t check your phone every two minutes? Or if you don’t post anything or check on what your friends are up to? Nothing, right? The world won’t come crashing down, and you won’t face any major loss. Still, leaving your phone alone seems too much to ask for, doesn’t it? Your phone needs to breathe, understand that. So does your Instagram, Facebook, and WhatsApp. Give them a break for their sanity, at least. Your social media updates can wait, but the need to communicate can’t.

2. You ain’t serious about your relation

You need to stop taking things lightly. More importantly, your relationship and your partner. If you don’t take things seriously and communicate as much as possible, you are not doing a fair job. You need to learn how to prioritize things and know what’s more important to you. Your social media updates or your bond?

3. It’s a sign of disrespect

Believe it or not, disrespect isn’t always verbal or in strong actions. Perhaps, the worst of all kinds is when you disrespect a person through your gestures and silence. You may not realise, but not paying attention to your partner during a conversation is a strong sign of disrespect. DON’T! Imagine, if your partner did the same to you, how would you feel?
