If Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol were the reigning onscreen couple of Bollywood in the 90’s, Ajay Devgn and Tabu were no less. Their crackling chemistry in Vijaypath and Haqeeqat set screens on fire back then. In fact, songs like ‘Raah Mein Unse Mulaqat Ho Gayi’ and ‘Ruk Ruk Ruk’ are perhaps one of the most iconic and loved 90’s songs ever.
There’s no denying that they looked effortless together on screen. But then, did you ever wonder why Tabu is still single? Well, what if we tell you the reason is none other than her Vijaypath co-star Ajay? Surprised? Shocked? If you’re an ardent fan who doesn’t miss out on any of her interviews, you’re most likely to know why. And for those who don’t, here’s some interesting trivia about why Tabu blames Ajay for being single all her life.

Recounting growing up with Ajay in the same locality, Tabu told the Hindustan Times, “Ajay and I go a really, really long way back, from the time we were 13 or 14. He is my brother’s childhood friend and because we all grew up together in a locality in Juhu, he was always a part of the whole boys’ gang while we were just giggling girls, hanging around, and trying to get some attention (sic).”

Talking about how her co-star Ajay shooed away boys who tried to approach her, she told Mumbai Mirror, “When I was young, Sameer and Ajay would spy on me, follow me around and threaten to beat up any boys who are caught talking to me. They were the big bullies and if I am single today, it is because of Ajay. I hope he repents and regrets what he did (sic).” Now, who would have ever thought about this?

In fact, she still jokes around with Ajay, asking him to find her a suitable man. Elaborating on that, she said, “I told him the other day to please find me a boy to marry. But jokes aside, our relationship has grown because we have worked so much with each other. From among the male actors, if there is anyone I can count on, it’s Ajay. He is like a child and yet so protective. The atmosphere on set when he’s around is stress-free. We share a unique relationship and unconditional affection (sic).”
And we don’t deny that one bit. The duo made a comeback after two decades with Drishyam, and also featured in two other films titled, De De Pyaar De and Golmaal Again! and nothing seems to have changed. Their chemistry is still on point.
