It is always fascinating to know personal details about your favourite celebrities. What they eat, who they date, their first kiss, their last break up and most importantly–how did their significant other (also a celebrity in most cases) propose!
So we got down to making note of each remarkable celebrity proposal we could lay our hands on and we started with Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai because it is also their 13th wedding anniversary today!
1. Abhishek proposed to his long time-girlfriend Aishwarya on a freezing New York balcony

In January 2017, Abhishek had shared on Twitter about how he proposed to Aishwarya on a freezing New York balcony to which she replied ‘Yes’. Aishwarya had spilled the tea on her sudden proposal while she was still shooting for the iconic Jodha Akbar. In an interview with Filmfare, Aishwarya had stated that it was all very sudden and, “Ashutosh is like ‘you are engaged’ and I am like ‘yeah,’ while Duggu (Hrithik), gave an excited thumbs up. We’re doing ‘Khawja Mere Khwaja’, sitting as a bride I am like, oh my god this is surreal, all happening on-screen, off-screen, this is bizarre.” We just love a spontaneous flow of emotions!
2. Saif had to try several times before Kareena finally gave in

Saif Ali Khan had to propose not once, but twice after Kareena didn’t respond to his first proposal. The couple was apparently holidaying in Paris when Saif proposed to her. During a show, Bebo had revealed that the first proposal happened when they were at a bar and the second one came at the Notre Dame Church. The actress said ‘yes’ after a couple of days. Paris also happens to be the city where Saif’s father had proposed to his mother Sharmila Tagore. The City of Love indeed.
3. Twinkle Khanna had set a condition under which she will agree to marry Akshay

Just like Kareena, Twinkle too took her own sweet time to agree to Akshay’s marriage proposal. Although Akshay was head over heels in love with Twinkle after a photoshoot together, he respected her decision to prioritise her career. Even as her movie Mela was set to release, Twinkle put a condition that she will marry Akshay if the movie flops. And as they say – the rest is history!
4. Nick is as traditionally in love as any desi boy gets, Priyanka would agree

Priyanka and Nick have big, glamorous Hollywood events to give credit to for their romance. The couple met for the first time at the Vanity Fair Oscars Party and ended up attending the Met Gala together. Funnily enough the two had just been on 3 dates spread over more than a year before Nick took Priyanka’s mom’s permission to marry her. He planned a beautiful vacation with our desi girl on the Greek island of Crete and it was a day before her birthday when he got down on one knee to say this: “Will you make me the happiest man in the world and marry me?” What followed was 45 seconds of silence after which Nick had to intervene and say, “I’m going to put this ring on your finger now unless you have any objections.” I want me some love that leaves me speechless.
5. Karan waited for the ‘right moment’ before asking Bipasha to marry him

Karan Singh Grover proposed to Bipasha Basu on the 2015 New Year’s Eve, while vacationing in Koh Samui. In an interview, Karan said that he was carrying the ring with him and was waiting to feel the right moment. “So while she was capturing the fireworks on video, I took the opportunity and gave her the ring,” he later added. Bipasha had later said that she had questioned Karan why he wanted to marry her and both of them eventually overcame their insecurities to tie the knot. We love a couple who lifts each other up.
6. Hardik popped the question to girlfriend Natasha on a romantic yacht ride

Cricketer Hardik Pandya proposed to his girlfriend Natasa Stankovic in a very romantic way. The all-rounder went down on his knees on a yacht in Dubai, decorated with red balloons, champagne, cake and obviously a live band. Natasha popped a quick yes and the deal was sealed with a kiss.
7. Soha was proposed to in the same city her mother and sister-in-law Kareena

Soha Ali Khan had announced her engagement to Kunal Kemmu in 2014 via social media. In the post, she wrote, “It gives me great happiness to share with you all that Kunal proposed to me in Paris with the most perfect ring in the world and I said yes.” The couple tied the knot a year later in 2015.
