When nothing ever bothers you anymore, you know it’s love. Manish Bhowmick never knew his sexuality until he met Pritam Borthakur and fell in love. The couple met on Instagram in 2019, through a random ‘follow’ and there’s been no looking back since. In a tête-à-tête with iDiva, the couple opened up about their relationship, and the trials and tribulations that came along.
Initially, Manish was totally new to the entire concept but was still ready to put it to the world as he knew he was sure about Pritam. “I managed to keep behind everything and step forward with Pritam, and I guess you do such things only in love,” says Manish.
Love and care conquers all

Pritam realised, over time, that the way Manish loves him is special. He adds, “No one would ever look at me the way he does. He stuck with me during my bad time. When I was at my lowest, he rooted for me and that’s what made me realise that he is the one.”
For Manish, it’s the way Pritam takes care of his family: “To him, his family means the entire world and now, since I’m a part of his family, I mean the whole world to him as well. That’s what
special about him. Not everyone today is so sentimental towards their family.”

As a partner, Manish is responsible but also jealous, and the romantic one in the relationship, and it absolutely needs no guesses on who proposed whom.
Talking about what binds them together, Pritam says, “We do have some rules too, like, even if we fight, we’d never speak about leaving each other. At the beginning, we told ourselves that this is the end game. No matter what, we have to take care of each other like family.”
The couple emerged as the ultimate ‘OTP’ or ‘One True Pair’ on MTV’s game show Anything For Love in which their connection was put to trial as they performed tasks which questioned every aspect of their relationship.
Of hardships and commitments

Talking about hardships, Pritam says, “Things get easy when your family supports you. I’m not saying everything was a piece of cake for us, but we found strength from the support and love that we both got from our families. We also received love from people on our Instagram and YouTube page which helped us face all the hardships.”
Pritam knows that Manish needs a lot of pampering and, well, he’s giving that in ample amounts. “Only thing I know is I’m trying to give him the love he deserves. I don’t know if that’s enough, but I am just effortlessly doing my share of duties in a relationship,” adds Pritam.
Their advice to all those who are still struggling to come out: Set up your base well. Build up a good career and stabilise yourself so that nobody can impose their decision on you simply because you’re dependent on them.
