Who knew 2020 would mean a worldwide lockdown that would alter the way we live, work, and think? The way life has taken a 180-degree turn in just a month’s time shows that anything is possible and we should be ready for everything.

Dealing with an ex even in a dream is stressful

That being said, we certainly didn’t see our anguish seeping into our dreams. But then again, we should have been ready for this too. If you are one of those people who has been dreaming about ex-lovers and flings without intentionally thinking about them, then do not worry. You’re not alone. Thousands of people are experiencing the same, waking up scandalised by their own dreams.

According to a research conducted by a digital marketing agency AGY47, Google searches for “why am I dreaming about my ex?” have gone up by a whopping 2,450% at present as compared to what it was last year.

Here’s what different kinds of dreams related to exes may mean

There are dreams, and then there are dreams about exes. See what your particular dream can mean:

1. Being chased by an ex

If your dream consisted of an ex chasing you, then don’t read too much into it. It does not mean he or she is stalking you or is trying to be back in your life. When you dream about running away from your ex, it might mean you have some commitment issues. Maybe you need time before you jump into your next relationship. This dream might also be indicative of taking a break and pondering over what you want from a present relationship or relationships in general.

2. Dreaming about an ex passing away

Dreaming about deaths is certainly depressing, especially if it is about a person you know and care for. However, dreaming about an ex dying may have a positive interpretation. It might represent the end of a situation or of you letting go of your past.

3. Bumping into an ex

It’s not uncommon for people to dream about meeting or bumping into their exes. This happens especially when a relationship has recently ended and the wounds are fresh. This dream might mean you have some unfinished business or some unaddressed issues. If you dream about this situation after ages, it might mean you are still subconsciously aware of what needs to be addressed.

4. Marrying an ex

Dreaming about marrying your ex, especially when you are in a relationship with someone else, can leave you perplexed. Before you wrack your brains worrying about any leftover feelings for that partner who isn’t in your life anymore, let’s look at the brighter side—this dream might signify that you are ready for a more meaningful and deeper commitment in your life. It does not mean that you are still in love or want to marry your ex-partner, but shows that you are ready to move forward, towards a new direction in your life.

5. Patching up with an ex

Have you been dreaming about getting back with an ex or “patching up” with them? Because that might actually mean something. However, what you need to mull over is–are there any issues in your current relationship or something missing that you had in your past relationship? Maybe you are subconsciously comparing your present to your past and this might result in a dream about getting back together with your ex. Don’t worry, it doesn’t mean you want him or her back in your life. There is certainly a reason why you both are not together in the present.

So ladies, don’t let a dream get the best of you, and forget it like you forget all your other dreams after waking up!
