Do you still expect an apology from your ex? So much so that despite being in a steady relationship, that one apology from your ex still matters to you for all the wrong he did? Well, that makes it all the more evident that you do have a lot of anger and grudges towards him, which refuse to leave you. Probably because you never got any closure. While some get over things with time, and the anger fades away, some never do. Deep down inside, they crave that one apology that they think will make them feel good.

1. Have you really moved on?

First things first, you need to ask yourself whether you have actually moved on or are just pretending to have moved on. Especially when you have gotten into another relationship. If that one apology constantly pesters you and hampers your peace of mind, you really haven’t moved on. In doing so, you’re being unfair to your current partner as well. How can an apology from a person who is no longer a part of your life matter so much that you don’t focus on your current relationship? Think about it!

2. What’s important for you, might not even bother your ex

Chances are rare that your ex would know about your expectations. So, basically you are cracking your brains over something that’s not even concerning or bothering your ex. How silly can this be? Have you thought about it? You are stressing over something which your ex might not even be aware of. Even if he is, if he still hasn’t apologized, he never will. That’s a clear sign of his indifference towards you and your relationship.

3. Just because you apologized, doesn’t expect him to reciprocate

The world is going to be fair, said who? You being the humble and generous one in the relationship might have apologized for things you did, keeping your ego at bay. Expecting the same from your ex will lead to disappointment. Was it a deal anyway? Also, you need to understand that apologies are supposed to be as spontaneous and real as love. Often, people think apologies make them look weak and needy. However, that’s not the case. And the best you can do to yourself is not regret your actions and apology. Always remember that for your sanity.

4. It’s a sadistic pleasure that lasts less than a minute, admit it

Believe it or not, you may be craving sadistic pleasure that will last less than a minute. The sooner you admit it, the better. When you see your ex apologize, it’ll make you feel superior and that’s all you want. Don’t worry, you are not alone. Everybody wants to feel that way. But if it’s at the cost of your mental peace and your current relationship, is it even worth it? The answer would be a clear NO! At times, it’s best to keep things simple and let it go.

5. Focus on what you have

It’s human nature to always seek something. While it might seem very basic, it often becomes the biggest challenge in relationships. Not that you are doing it deliberately to hurt your current partner, but often people fail to focus on what they have. Instead of dwindling on the past, your life would be so much more fun and lively if you nurture what you have. What’s gone is gone. If it was meant to stay it would. Accept it, your ex is not going to apologize and move on.
