We all need some ME time. No matter how much you love your partner, there are certain activities you enjoy doing alone–like reading a book or listening to your favourite music. There are things we need space and time for, without any external interference. However, there are certain things that need to be done together. If you’re avoiding those, maybe it’s time to accept that there might be trouble in paradise.
1. Not discussing your career goals
In a healthy relationship, you will always seek advice or take second opinion from your SO–because their opinion matters. Especially, when you are going through a rough patch. If you are hiding your hard times and lows from your partner, you need to think about whether or not you are with the right person. A supportive partner will always guide your interests, and you shouldn’t have to restrain yourself from discussing it with them.
2. Enjoying yourself more when with friends and family
It’s normal to feel excited when you are around your best peeps–especially family. But here’s the thing, are you treating it as an escape from bae? Does going out with friends give you more happiness than being with your partner? If you’re always making plans with your gal pals in order to avoid spending time with bae–then you know where it’s heading. Even worse, if you feel irritated when your partner accompanies you.
3. Not taking your partner’s help at all
It’s good to be self-sufficient, but a little help never hurt anyone. You might be used to going it alone, but a healthy relationship is about finding joy in the simplest things–together. For instance, something as basic as grocery shopping can become an activity you do together–after all, it’s all about the urge to enjoy your partner’s company.
4. If your bae is not a part of your social group
Socialising is fun, but have you introduced your partner to your social circle? No? Well, if you find it too difficult to introduce him to your peer group, you definitely are not sure about the relationship.
5. Is your bae is missing from your Insta feed?
If your partner is missing from your social media feed, question yourself– are you trying to hide your relationship from the world? If so, why? Does your partner’s presence embarrass you? Is that the reason why you are not ready to acknowledge their presence? Tough questions all–but damn important!
