In a recent interview with ETimes, she recalled a near-death experience during the fifth month of her pregnancy

Elaborating on how her gynaecologist saved her life, she said, “I had to go in for an appendectomy in the fifth month of my pregnancy. I was in and out of hospital subsequently because of an acute bacterial infection that could have led to sepsis while I was in my sixth month of pregnancy. My baby had to be delivered because my placenta had started to haemorrhage. It was a tough time and I’m grateful for my gynaecologist who saved our lives.”

Talking about the challenges of motherhood during the pandemic, she said, “To bring a child into a world in crisis has a profound impact on all our choices. I hope that someday soon we won’t have to wear masks and our children can have normalcy in their lives. Our daughter is studying online and that is a struggle. Our son is too young to know the difference. But while we stay home, we cherish the time we have together and do all we can to make this time engaging, happy and safe for our children.”

Motherhood has been the most rewarding and fulfilling time of her life, and she’s enjoying every bit of it.

Sharing how she’s learning each day about the joys and the challenges of motherhood, she said, “Children are truly the best teachers for adults as they bring with them a totally pure worldview. Avyaan has taught me mindfulness, joy, and resilience and just one smile from him can melt all my cares away. I feel even more responsible as a professional now because I want to create a better world for him to grow up in, with my voice and my work. Samaira is such a lovely big sister and I learn a lot from her refreshing worldview as well.”
