Deepika Padukone is making the most of the lockdown, catching up on movies and whipping up some impressive dishes much to husband Ranveer Singh’s delight. Deepika, who is away from her family in Bengaluru, posted a picture to celebrate her dad’s 65th birthday and wrote a heartfelt message for him.

Posting a picture of the two of them together from her childhood she said, “To the greatest off-screen hero I could have ever had! Thank You for showing us that being a true champion is not only about one’s professional achievements, but also about being a good human being! Happy 65th Birthday, Pappa!”

There’s no denying that the two are tight and DP credits her dad for shaping the person she has become. She spoke about his influence on her in an interview with a leading daily saying, “The most important thing for us and for them in bringing us up then is being a good human being. I remember he said that you can have all the stardom and success in the world but if you are not a good human being you will never be remembered. If you are a good person then it trickles in everything else that you do”

She also revealed that her father is open to all opinions saying, “Yes, especially my father. In some ways he is quite fixated about doing things a certain way. But if Anisha and I have a different perspective, dad doesn’t dismiss it. He is more than happy to have a conversation with us. His keenness to learn is amazing!”
Deepika will next be seen in the biopic 83, where she stars opposite Ranveer. The two play real-life couple Kapil and Romi Dev. She has also been working on Shakun Batra’s yet to be titled film.
