Mahekk Chahal is all set to take off to Cape Town for Khatron Ke Khiladi 11. The actress will be returning to our screens after a hiatus of five years. She was last seen on Comedy Nights Bachao along with Ashmit Patel. The duo parted ways early last year after five years of being together. Recently, the Bigg Boss 5 contestant opened up about the real reason she walked away from Ashmit and why he’s not the right partner for her.

On being asked if she blames herself for the split, she told ETimes TV: “Not at all. I chose to walk off. When you start living together and spending more time with a particular person, you get to know the real him or her. I don’t think that Ashmit was the right person for me.”

However, it wasn’t easy for Mahekk to recover from the breakup and she moved her base to Goa during the pandemic. The Nayee Padosan actress said, “My friends and family stood by me. I shared my issues with them. I was in Goa for a year. Owing to the lockdown, I would come down to Mumbai only if required. I spent a lot of time with nature in Goa; nature has a calming, soothing and healing influence on me. Time heals everything and this time was no exception. It was not easy as there was no work during COVID; so your mind tends to keep thinking the same thing. But I have finally healed myself.”

Mahekk further stressed how staying in the same apartment after the breakup led to anxiety: “No, I wouldn’t have gone to Goa then. It just fell into place. I feel very relaxed when I’m in nature. I was getting a lot of anxiety staying in the same apartment.”
The couple had even got engaged in 2017 and planned a destination wedding. However, due to compatibility issues, the date got pushed. Finally, last year in January, Mahhek called the relationship off. Talking about whether she’s ready to fall in love again, she said, “I like love, one is lucky if he or she falls in love. I am sorry for those people who are depressed and don’t get love. I am looking for love again.”
