8 Yellow Flags To Look Out For In Relationships That Are Actually Warning Signs

We all have heard about red flags in relationships. They are the deal-breakers and hard to compromise over.

But there is a middle path to the two extremes of a green flag and a red flag – the yellow flag. These are the subtle, yet adamant issues in a person or relationship which can turn into bigger problems AKA the red flags.

Here are a few yellow signs that actually mean ‘halt and take a closer look at your relationship’:

1. They don’t have opinions

Either they are not comfortable sharing their opinions with you or they don’t have any; either way, both these situations are yellow flags. Nothing should cause a hindrance in communicating with your partner, not even the fact that they might be an introvert.

2. They are indecisive

The one great thing we learn with age is how to make decisions for ourselves. It is the highlight of adulthood. Those who are still not at a place in their lives where they can do that for themselves, then it will become a problem for the people they will be with.

3. They don’t have a particular interest in anything

They have no interest or hobbies, they practically just go through the day as a task, spread out on the bed on the weekends, and life just passes them by. A person without passion will suck the life out of their partner too. They have the potential of becoming clingy and restrict you from your freedom because you are their ultimate and only go-to “thing” to pass their time.

4. They have one too many ‘crazy’ exes

This cannot be a legitimate thing if it is more than once. That is just a rule of thumb. Either your partner doesn’t like to take responsibility in relationships or plays the victim card too often. Either way, you will have to figure out which ex was actually crazy or if there even was a crazy ex to begin with.

5. A failed relationship was pinned on the ex

Keeping in line with the previous point, if your partner’s understanding of companionship is stuck on the point that their partner is never willing enough, kind enough, enthusiastic enough, or anything else, then there is a problem. A relationship from the get-go is a shared space with shared responsibilities. Rather than shame your ex in public, at least keep a neutral front and say “it didn’t work out” than make excuses.

6. They are not comfortable talking about family

Adult relationships need to mature with age. If they are stuck on not talking about their family or keeping their relationship and family separate there is an underlying problem that can blow up in your face later.

7. They are unemployed

Being out of a job is not a problem. Additionally, it gives an insight into your partner’s productivity level as well as temperament when they are not financially stable. However, it shouldn’t become a state of mind. They shouldn’t stop making an effort to get their lives in order or get another job if they are out of one.

8. Their friend circle is kind of extreme

The two worst situations to deal with would be that either your partner has no close friends or they have too many friends. These two extremes play a crucial part in relationship dynamics. If they have no friends then it reflects on their inability to handle long-term relationships. And if they have way too many friends then it reflects on how they will always be divided amongst social obligations, having little to no alone time with you.
