Ayan Mukerji’s Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani is an iconic film. We’ve all watched it 39073 times. We’ve all thought there was some truth to the Ranbir Kapoor-Deepika Padukone confrontation and we all die a little every time we watch it. However, the movie is not actually that great if you analyse the script. Boy meets girl, girl falls in love, boy leaves but girl waits, boy returns, girl confesses and they live happily ever after. Sounds pretty alright-ish, doesn’t it?
Despite the analysis, we cannot deny that we’ve been wishing for a Bunny in our lives too. You know? Handsome but doesn’t know it and jumps out in your life when you least expect it. Yet, in 2020, Bunny’s not the ideal person you’d want to get with. Here’s why.
a) He’s stubborn AF
He fights with his dad when his dad is clearly just concerned about his well-being. Bunny is also adamant that he will go for the Manali trip, come what may. TBH, that kinda attitude sucks–need to be more respectful with the fam.
b) He clearly doesn’t respect his step-mom
Just because his dad chose to remarry doesn’t entitle the kids to act like little pricks, now does it? Clearly Bunny didn’t get the memo.
c) He was a bully in school
Bunny and his friends would pick on Naina in school. If he was into that kinda thing, we don’t know if it is a permanent tendency or just a passing phase. Either way, it is wrong.
d) He’s very individualistic
The fact that he decided to go abroad to study, applied to a college and got accepted, but kept that information from his 2 best friends. Contrastingly, he made plans with Avi about how they would be living together, which only goes on to show how secretive Bunny could get.
e) He’s a flirt
Throughout the film he’s shown to be flirting with attractive women. It doesn’t even matter if he’s lying to them or hooking up with them behind shady bars. From Lara to the red-dressed girl in Paris, Bunny seems like he’d not be the loyal kinds. Although this one can be debated.
f) He doesn’t confront his mistakes, he runs from them
One of the signs of a mature adult is being able to deal with the decisions that one makes for themselves. When Bunny’s dad passes away or the fact that he moved to Chicago for his education, he chose not to keep in touch with anyone who he knew from his past, including his best friends. They even tried to keep up but after a point, they stopped.
g) He’s indecisive AF
He legit leaves when Naina tells him that she cannot leave her medical practise and travel with him. He doesn’t even try to have a conversation about how they can make it work. Then when he realizes that it’s not possible, he pops up at Naina’s house with all his decisions made.
