Mother’s Day is just around the corner and it is the perfect time to think about all the special things you can do with your mum this year. We’ve had a hard couple of years with the pandemic and the lockdowns, but with the world opening up again, this might be the perfect opportunity to plan something special for your mother.
Here are some small but memorable things you can plan for this Mother’s Day, and show your mum how much you think of her and how important she’s to you!
1. Breakfast in bed
Classics are called classics for a good reason. Give your mum a little break and make sure her day starts off special with a breakfast in bed. Make her fave things and make her smile. However, remember that it’s not only breakfast! Clean the dishes after you’re done and don’t leave a mess that she’ll have to clean up. It’s about making it special, after all.
2. Plan a trip
Travelling is a great way of knowing someone, and travelling with your mum can help you reconnect with her. It doesn’t have to be a fancy trip or a long one. Just plan something where you both can be alone, explore a new place, and share some laughs. Go for a long drive, book a spa day, or head for the hills—it’s up to you!
3. Fancy dress-up dinner
Not a lot of us have the time to plan extravagant events, but Mother’s Day should be about something special. Take the night off and make plans to go to dinner with your mum, but make sure it’s not just any other boring night. Dress up, get reservations at a fancy place, and make her feel special!
4. Movie marathon
You don’t always have to spend a lot of money to make a moment memorable. Dig out all your best movies and spend the evening streaming your favourite flicks with mum. Coo over Shah Rukh Khan together, weep about romantic plots, and laugh at comedies to make the night special.
5. Go on a shopping spree
Retail therapy can be a great way to unwind and have a great time. When you’re stuck in a rut, spending money at the local markets can help uplift your spirits. Take your mum out and go shopping with her. Bond over the things you like and come back home to a fashion show!
6. Book a therapy session
This is something that you might not be able to do together, but it could help her unload her mental stress and feel more at ease with herself. You could also book a session for the both of you if it’s something that’s been on your mind. It’s 2022 and about time that we start putting mental health on the forefront.
Loving your mother should not be left for a designated day. Doing small things to show your affection can make your bond stronger and help you feel closer to your mum.
While this is a great time to plan these small yet special moments with your mother, remember that Mother’s Day is not the only time when you can show how much you care for her. Hope you have a great mother-daughter bonding time!
