If you’re a single, 30-something woman, you’d know that being single in your 30s is way different than your 20s. When you’re a 20-something woman trying to make your mark in the world, you aren’t bothered by societal pressure and your singlehood. However, as you move into your 30s, you neither have the patience nor the mental bandwidth to deal with agism. And then, there are those times when you contemplate if you’ll ever find a partner or end up alone. If you’re relating to what we’re trying to say here, you’ll relate to the following scenarios as well.

1. When you attend a friend’s wedding

Attending a friend’s wedding in your 20s is all about having fun. While you can still have fun in your 30s, you have to spend every wedding party dodging questions about your own wedding. And if all your friends are married by the time you enter the golden 30s, you’re the central focus of everyone’s matchmaking skills.

2. Wondering if you’re going to end up alone

Not every woman is looking for a partner, and that’s completely fine. However, there are some of us who would love to fall in love and have someone to go home to. As a 20-something, you’re too invested in your career to worry about relationships and romance. However, in your 30s, you sometimes wonder where all the good men are.

3. When people recommend rishtas

In India, a single, unmarried woman is a threat to society. When you’re in your 20s, you have all the patience and sass in the world to deal with people who are constantly suggesting potential grooms. However, as a 30-something woman, you spend your time hiding away from pesky relatives at family gatherings or not showing up on one pretext or another.

4. Dealing with men on dating apps

Oh! The good, beautiful days when you had all the patience for swiping and fuckbois. As a 20-something, you have all the time to date different men before you find the one. However, as a 30-year-old, you just want to delete all dating apps because you have no energy for small talk.

5. Should I settle?

In your 20s, you are still hopeful of meeting the right one because you feel like you have all the time in the world. Thanks to societal pressure and conditioning, you have moments of self-doubt in your 30s. However, being single is always better than settling for the wrong person. Also, all that jargon about your biological clock ticking is…jargon. So, you do you!
