“Aunty ji, aunty ji… get up and dance!”
If you’re lucky enough to have that one cool aunt in your family, you are sorted. You know the non-judgemental one whom you can talk your heart out to without any inhibitions? At times, it’s difficult to say certain things to your parents and that’s when she becomes your shield, your rescuer, and your saviour. Making life simple and fun for you is her motto, and that’s what makes her the sweetest and coolest ever. In a society where every aunty is on the lookout to call us out for our choices–it’s hard to find that one cool aunt who would fight the world for you. But when you do find her, remember she’s a keeper. Here’s why:
1. She’s the ultimate love guru
She has to know everything about your love life, and why not? After all, she’s your ultimate saviour and love guru. In your hour of despair, she’s the one who’s always there to console and pacify you. Not just that, she’ll come up with some of the best relationship advice ever. Remember what Abhay’s (Imran Khan) aunt in Break Ke Baad said: “Tum sab, sab kuch chahte ho aur chahte ho ki dard bhi na ho?.” Makes so much sense, right? Of course, these life lessons had to come from the coolest aunt ever.
2. She loves to spoil you
Aunts love to spoil their nieces. If things would go their way, they would buy the world for you and nobody could say a word–not even their siblings. They don’t need to seek permission from your mum and dad, and they shouldn’t either. Because they just want the best for you after all.
3. She gets your fashion sense
You know it too. While everyone else will raise their brows saying, ‘Arey yeh kya pehna hai? Go change!’, she will be the one standing by you showering you with praises. At times, when even your parents fail to understand your fashion choices, she is the one who always encourages you to try out a new hair colour or buy that super-sexy dress. In fact, she would also put up your picture on her Instagram with a caption that reads: “My niece rocks!’’. Beat that!
4. She’s a bridge between you and your parents
There will be times when your parents fail to understand you. That’s when she acts as a bridge between you and your parents. She knows what your heart wants and she would take the whole responsibility of making your parents understand and getting you what you want.
