Yoga In The Streets, Party In The Sheets: 5 Asanas That’ll Improve Your Sex Life

A couple’s mental, physical and emotional well-being depends on their sex life. And a major obstacle to this is a lack of libido or sex drive. Yoga can help when it comes to increasing your libido and giving your sex life a boost. It increases blood flow, flexibility, reduces stress and aids in the maintenance of a healthy weight, all of which contribute to an increase in libido.

We got yoga and fitness expert Ira Trivedi, founder of Yog Love, to elaborate on the five major yoga asanas that will help you to increase your sex drive.

1. Marjariasana (Cat-cow Stretch)

1. Get down on your knees and palms. Keep palms shoulder-width apart and knees hip-width apart. 

2. Inhale and raise your chin upwards as you tilt your head backward. Lower your spine so it is curving inwards towards the floor.

3. Hold this position for a moment.

4. Exhale, bringing your chin down, and also arch your back upwards. 

5. Hold and slowly relax.

2. Ustrasana (Camel Pose)

1. Start in a kneeling position with your hands on the lower back for support.

2. Slowly bend backwards, engaging the core.

3. Drop the head back and tilt the chin towards the ceiling, continuing to breathe deeply.

3. Baddha Konasana (Butterfly Pose)

1. Sit up with the legs extended in front of you.

2. Bending both knees, bring the soles of both feet together and grab the big toes.

3. Keep the back straight, flap the thighs up and down to mimic a butterfly’s wings.

4. As you inhale and exhale, you should be able to pull your feet closer toward the body and relax deeper into the pose.

4. Garudasana (Eagle Pose)

1. Stand straight. 

2. Bend your knees.

3. Then lift your left foot and cross it over your right knee. 

4. Bring both your arms in front and cross your right arm over the left one, bending your elbows. 

5. Join both your palms together. 

6. Keep your gaze focussed in the front and hold this position for a few seconds. 

7. Slowly relax your hands first and then relax your legs. 

5. Setu Bandha Sarvangasana (Bridge Pose)

1. Lie down on your back. 

2. Keep your feet flat on the ground while lifting your torso by bending your knees.

3. Palms should stay flat on the ground, underneath the hips and head, and neck should also remain on the ground.

4. Hold this position for a few seconds and relax.

Practicing these asanas every day will calm your mind, which is crucial for a healthy libido.
