What Celebrity Trainers Eat: Junaid Kaliwala

Junaid Kaliwala is one of India’s top body builders, who crushed all odds to make his way to Arnold Classic, the world’s second biggest bodybuilding competition, in 2014. That’s not all. He has won several bodybuilding competitions; an online physique competition in the UK in 2013 and the Sheru Classic Mens’ Physique competition in 2013. He also won a bronze medal at the Mr. Maharashtra event and the Mr. India Championships in 2015. In April 2016, he became the first Indian to win the NPC Metropolitan Physique Championship in New York and currently, he is training television actors Prince Narula and Vivian Dsena. Breakfast

Junaid’s day starts at 7.30 AM. Being a bodybuilder, he is extremely particular about his routine and never skips a workout. His day begins with 30 to 40 minutes of cardio. “My first meal of the day contains of a protein shake and oats, which I have around 8:30 AM, after I am done with cardio,” he says. This light breakfast keeps his energy levels maximised. He eats his second breakfast at 11 AM, which consists of 8 to 10 egg whites and 2 to 3 slices of brown bread.

Lunch

Junaid eats lunch at 2 PM, which usually consists of 200 grams of fish along with 50 grams of white rice with a side dish of green veggies. The quantities are always measured to avoid overeating.

 

Mid-evening meal

Junaid burns out all the calories at the gym where he trains his clients. At 4.30 PM, Junaid has a protein-rich meal of 170-200 grams of steamed chicken with a cup of broccoli.

The pre-workout meal

He starts his own training at around 7.30 PM but before that, he has a pre-workout snack, which consists of 150 grams of steamed fish with sauce. “I also start my workout with a pre-workout drink which is usually a protein shake,” shares Junaid.

 

The post-workout meal

“Post workout, I consume two scoops of isolate protein for muscle recovery, one bottle of Gatorade for glycogen replacements along with vitamin tablets,” says Junaid about his strict, portion-controlled diet.

Dinner

Junaid loves his dinner, which is usually a portion (200 grams) of lamb steak along with green veggies. That discipline is insane!
