Do you remember that feeling when your periods suddenly came upon you and you went around the entire work bay asking women colleagues if they had a sanitary pad? Most of us can relate to this, probably because it happens to all of us at least several times a year. But imagine a world where you never had to worry about a period stain. Like NEVER EVER.

Twin sisters, Radha and Miki Agarwal and friend Antonia Dunbar have figured out a way to make this happen. Their invention THINX is a self-absorbing, washable, leak-proof underwear that can hold up to two tampons’ worth of blood all the while keeping the wearer feeling dry. In other words, panties that double up as pads. While their usage is intended as backup, many use the underwear as a replacement for what women would normally wear (depending on their flow).

And best of all, these panties actually look sexy. After functional pads and gross looking disposable panties, these lacy panties, which come in options (with varying levels of absorption) of thong, cheeky, hiphugger and lux, look totally gorgeous. Check out the picture below.

Leak proof, comfy and sexy enough that you can wear it on a date and feel good about yourself! What more does one need! CEO Miki told Forbes: “I want to change the culture around women’s most normal time of month – and not while wearing grandma panties or pads that feel like a diaper.”

The Thinx website adds: “By re-imagining feminine hygiene products to provide support, comfort, confidence, and peace of mind, we aim to eliminate shame, empowering women and girls around the world.”

They’re also donating money from every pair sold to Ugandan organisation AFRIpads to buy girls the freedom to go to school when they have their period.

Is this totally something that you want? Well, these wonder undies are made in Sri Lanka and can be purchased through the Thinx website, although the price is a tad steep. In the meantime, check out this video by the Thinx team on how they arrived upon this product.
