Mentally, we have already entered the festive mood where our healthy habits have taken a backseat. However, being more mindful of what you eat can save you from those deadly hangovers, and make you feel fresh and relaxed.

Celebrity nutritionist Rujuta Diwekar in her audiobook ‘Eating in the Age of Dieting’ has shared

some super easy tips on how to rock this party season with mindful eating. Read on.

1. Don’t go out on an empty stomach

Needless to mention, Christmas and New Year parties start and end on a high note. So, always make sure you are full before heading to a party

Rujuta explains, “It’s essential to have a full stomach before a night of drinking: dal, rice, roti with paneer sabzi before leaving for the party. A well-fed stomach comes with a brighter face and a happier state of mind. Basically, be ready to drink and dance the moment you arrive.”

2. Stay hydrated

Rujuta’s mantra to survive a night out like this is to stay hydrated. “Drink water between your drinks and eat peanuts, paneer, olives, cheese, small stuff with good fats, stay well hydrated and don’t let the alcohol hit you on your beauty or brains,” she suggests.

3. Don’t skip dinner

We mostly tend to skip our dinner as we keep munching on starters. When the night is coming to an end, Rujuta recommends, “Eat something before you sleep. This is important. It could be khichdi, biryani or just bread and butter, but eat.”

4. The ultimate cure for those deadly morning hangovers

A night of drinking till you drop usually results in a major hangover the morning after. Tackling the following day is just as important as the night before, the nutritionist emphasizes: “Wake up to a glass of water, and eat some soaked raisins and one teaspoon of gulkand. Nothing prevents headaches or hangovers like this does. It also helps you cleanse your system.”

5. Have a wholesome breakfast

“Eat a wholesome snack before noon. Essentially take your pick but eat something” to ease your system the next day, suggests Rujuta.
