This video got me thinking about the chaos surrounding the Grand Indian Wedding. Essentially, this is a ceremony celebrating love and the start of something new. It’s a simple, beautiful sentiment. But, that message is often lost thanks to social pressures and obligations that end up becoming the focal point. Through all the cacophony, all you’re trying to do is to stay calm and keep your #WeddingGoalz in sight, even though there’s chachiji to please, mamiji to impress and all the nanas and nanis who will constantly remind you that, “this is not how things are done.” The sad truth is that marriages aren’t a union of souls but a public showcase. But it doesn’t have to be like that!
Perhaps the “Indian bride” wouldn’t become bridezilla if she was given a breather from all pressure as well as the added onus of looking thin, pretty and #SANSKARI. While we’re hoping for change and for families to ease up on couples, go ahead and watch this video which describes what the bride, in particular goes through. It’ll make you laugh, but it’ll also make you think.
