Taapsee Pannu’s journey of playing unconventional roles started with Pink, and there’s been no looking back since. The actress has delivered some power-packed performances one after the other but that’s not the only reason we love her. Her rigorous training routine followed by a strict healthy diet just adds to those many reasons. Taapsee, who was last seen in Thappad, is now busy prepping for her next movie Rashmi Rocket in which she plays a track athlete. However, this isn’t her first sports film. She has featured in films like Soorma and Saand Ki Aankh before. We got in touch with her nutritionist Munmun Ganeriwal to share her diet and fitness regime.
Taapsee, an absolute non-fussy eater
Munmun finds the Thappad actress very straightforward, simple, and sensible. She said, “Though she happens to be a big star, one wouldn’t find her throwing a ‘starry’ attitude. So, when we first met and I proposed my food philosophy that is based on simple and wholesome ‘ghar ka khana’, she didn’t take long to be a party to it.”
Taapsee’s breakfast contributes a lot to her fitness
Keeping it simple, she kick-starts her day with just the right amount of proteins and carbohydrates. Her breakfasts generally consist of either eggs or jowar roti stuffed with seasonal veggies.
A wholesome ‘Ghar ka khana’ for lunch and dinner
The actor prefers simple home-cooked food for lunch and dinner which is mostly roti or rice with daal and vegetables. Munmun said, “Since she has a busy work life, I ensure I plan a few smaller mid meals like buttermilk, fruits, nuts throughout the day so as to keep her energized. The meals I suggest vary based on seasons, her shoot locations, and any requirements her onscreen character may demand.”
Taapsee’s love for sports
We have seen Taapsee in movies based on sports, but many may not know that her love for sports goes beyond the silver screen. The secret to her fit body lies in her love for physical activity. “If she is in Mumbai, she wouldn’t miss playing squash even for a single day,” Munmun added. The actor always recommends people pick up a sport as it helps to keep the body toned and ups the stamina level.
She starts her day with pranayama
Other than enjoying her daily dose of cardio, the actress also practices yoga. She begins her day with pranayama. Talking about her commitment to fitness, Munmum said, “I often suggest her apps that she can use to practice deep breathing irrespective of where she is. When she is shooting, no matter how hectic her schedule may get, she would make it a point to work out every day.”
Her current diet include sweet potato tikkis
Though her current diet plan is still based on home foods, it is comparatively stricter keeping in mind the body transformation as the role demands. Munmun also suggests that eating only proteins is not the only way to get an athletic body. Keeping the right balance is important. She said, “Since she is training in the morning, I ensure to plan a carb-rich meal for her breakfast that will help replenish the glycogen stores. So, she is currently eating sweet potato tikkis for breakfast. It has high fiber content and is great in taste. Lunch and dinner are the same but with an extra helping of egg or chicken thrown in. This, of course, isn’t something that will continue till November. As she progresses, her meals will undergo a change.”
