Sara Ali Khan’s Workout Video Is Inspiring Us To Put Down That Packet Of Chips

COVID-19 has got the country on lockdown, and rightly so, considering that it’s the best way to prevent the spread of the virus. On #janatacurfew Sara Ali Khan, who is making the most of staying indoors, decided to share with her 20 million plus followers an easy to do, tabata-style workout. 

 In the video, Sara who is wearing bright pink workout shouts and a black crop top from Puma, shares how to do a tabata style workout. 

This include 20 seconds of:

1. Burpees

 2. Squat Jumps

3. Mountain climbers

4. Reverse Lunges

5. Shoulder taps in high plank

6. Jumping jacks

7. 2 reverse lunges and 1 squat jump

8. Burpees again 

Tabata is a style of High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) workout which usually consists of four minutes, where you push your body in those 20 seconds, and then let your body rest for 10 seconds. For maximum impact and where you really feel the burn, you need to do eight sets of the exercises Sara does.

This sort of exercise is perfect to get your heart rate up, and burn all those extra calories that you’ve accumulated sitting at home.

Sara, who used to be overweight, has spoken about her fitness journey at length. She revealed she used to weigh 96 kgs while studying in New York and gave herself one year to shed all that weight. “I simply started eating healthy and began working out when in New York. There were so many different types of classes in that city, from functional training to boxing to cycling. But because I was so overweight at the start, [my routine] was more about cardio-heavy workouts like walking, cycling and hitting the treadmill—so that I could lose the weight before entering the intermediate forms of exercise.” She added that if she has a physically taxing week, she opts for vipassana yoga or pilates and if she had an emotionally taxing week, she opts for boxing.
