The past two years have been extremely tough on each one of us. We all have reached the burnout stage, and it’s been emotionally and mentally draining. The pandemic has somehow helped the conversations get started around mental health and normalise it. In fact, even popular food brands are taking notes and doing their part in overcoming the mental health taboo in India. Recently, your favourite childhood brand Parle-G, too, stepped in to check on their fans and customers about their well-being.

They took to Instagram and Twitter, and shared a picture which has a Parle-G biscuit holding a telescope that reads, “Zoom in for a Genius fact!” And when you zoom in, you read a beautiful self-care message written on the biscuit: “You’re doing great so be proud of yourself.”

The caption of the post read, “We really just want to make you smile. How are you feeling today? Tell us in the comments. Talk to us.” With almost 30K likes, the comments section was flooded with reactions like, “Parle -G ye toh dil “G” eetne wali baat kar di”, “This just made my day. I was so glum this morning…I was feeling so negative. Thank you so much for this reassurance”, “I’m fine , Thanks for Asking”, “Tea with Parle G is an emotion”, and so on. This initiative indeed brought a smile on everyone’s face and it’s a great gesture to show they care.

Apart from Parle-G, various other popular food brands have also struck a conversation about the relevance and importance of mental health. Last month, one of your most liked chocolates, Kitkat, had also stressed on why it’s important to take a day off from work for the much-needed break.

Food delivery app Swiggy also tweeted how they are prioritising their employee’s mental health over everything.

Zomato, too, urged companies and managers to not put pressure on their employees during these dire times.

And, above all, let’s not forget what happened on MasterChef Australia this season! The world’s greatest food reality show witnessed Brent Draper, one of the strongest contestants, leaving the competition midway to prioritise his mental health over winning the title. These small little moves spark the most essential conversations that matter to so many people. It motivates people to put their mental health above everything else. Because nothing else matters!
