2. Ileana D’Cruz

At the World Mental Health Congress in 2017, Ileana opened up about Body Dysmorphic Disorder which later led to depression saying, “I was always a very self-conscious person and was picked on for my body type. I used to feel low and sad all the time but didn’t know I was suffering from depression and Body Dysmorphic Disorder till I got help. All I wanted to do was to be accepted by everyone. At one point, I even had suicidal thoughts and wanted to end things. However, all of it changed when I accepted myself and what I was going through. I think that is the first step towards fighting depression.”

3. Deepika Padukone

Speaking at the World Economic Forum earlier this year, DP who is a known advocate for mental health said, “Mental illness happened to me when I had least expected it. I was at a professional high, my movies were doing great and I was in an amazing relationship. Everything was going just perfect. After I was diagnosed with clinical depression regarding my mental health, I had to even lie when someone asked me how I was doing. I would say, I’m great, though I was actually terrible.”

4. Alia Bhatt

In an interview with Filmfare, Alia revealed that she suffered from anxiety saying, “No matter how bad it is, I just let myself feel it. Sometimes, I feel like crying for no reason. Then it passes. Initially, I’d be a little confused. I’d constantly give reasons that it’s because of work or maybe I’m tired or haven’t been able to meet anyone … The kind of personality I have, I become a little on the edge. What’s important is to accept it and not say that you’re fine. If you’re not feeling fine, then you should just say you’re not feeling fine.”
