“Never Been More Comfortable…”: Sameera Reddy Pens A Note On Body Positivity & Self-Love

Sameera Reddy has always been vocal about embracing oneself in one’s own skin. Ever since giving birth, the actor has been open about her journey of accepting her body in its raw, authentic self. 

Recently, she penned, yet another, note about being grateful, acceptance, and self-love that reminded us of the several times she promoted body positivity and inspired us to do the same. Here’s what she said.   

“I’ve never been more comfortable in front of the camera with my cellulite & curves”

Reddy took to Instagram to post a picture of herself in a yellow playsuit and denim jacket. She mentioned that she spent plenty of time fretting about the opinions of others and that it took her a long time to understand herself and her body. She also added that he has never been more comfortable flaunting her cellulite and curves.     

Her caption said, “I love my body, I am kind to my body. I wasted years worried about what the world thought of me. It took me so long to get here and I am grateful xx I’ve never been more comfortable in front of the camera with my cellulite & curves. Bodies change and we need to be more understanding and work towards a healthy & happy one. Don’t be so hard on yourself. Work positively with what you have, not what is expected. #selflove #imperfectlyperfect

On promoting body positivity actively

Sameera Reddy is, perhaps, one of the few actors in Bollywood who has been actively vocal and candid about body positivity. Her accounts, experiences and pictures make her messages relatable to the masses. For example, she posted a picture of cellulite and stretch marks on her arm with a message to love the part of your body that you dislike the most. 

Her message said, “Choose 1 part of your body you dislike. Give that part loads of love and acceptance. Your Body is your BFF and needs you to love it .Try this simple Body Positive exercise everyday to work towards a positive body image.”

Relatable ways to spread body positivity

Along with speaking out on sensitive topics like accepting one’s body after childbirth and dealing with severe postpartum, Reddy never fails to dole out relatable and practical tips that will help in promoting body positivity. One of such times was when she shared a bunch of daily affirmations to bring a change to the subconscious mind. 

Those affirmations included, “I respect my body and my body respects me, my opinion of my body is the only one that counts,” and many others.

Sameera Reddy touches on the nerve of body positivity and acceptance when she explains concepts beyond exercise, diet and fitness. The actor elaborates on bringing a profound change that is utterly needed for accepting oneself the way one is. In a similar post, she spoke about how forgiveness leads to healing. She urged that one must forgive oneself as well as others for criticising and setting high expectations.

Being a flagbearer for body positivity, her social media pages are brimming with inspiring accounts on self-love that revolve around overcoming struggles to loving one’s own body. In a world of airbrushed images and ‘perfect bodies’, Reddy’s experiences touch one of the most difficult subjects positively.
